Color will take a back seat but I must admit that greys will always catch my eye!RiderWriterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05679157278313699794noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-703454697604324515.post-50574925245992542012011-08-28T08:02:40.569-05:002011-08-28T08:02:40.569-05:00I love grey horses, personally. It can happen, but it can also happen that they get 1 or 2 little ones under their tail, or around their genitalia, and that's it.

I would not shy away from a grey horse just because of the melanoma issue.

And there are plenty of gray Tb's out there that need a happy home :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-703454697604324515.post-89384718299308523392011-08-24T17:26:06.621-05:002011-08-24T17:26:06.621-05:00I've seen some grey horses with horrible melan...I've seen some grey horses with horrible melanomas around their sheath and anus that were quite painful and impacting the quality of their lives.

I also know some vets who believe that for every melanoma you can see on the surface of the horse they likely have several internal ones that can eventually cause problems. So even if you remove the external ones your horse can still die from complications due to melanomas.

Thankfully I also know many old gray horses whose melanomas are acting very benign. =-)Jessicahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09066327510880156537noreply@blogger.com
